I’m Chris, a writer based in Sydney, Australia

I am a writer, an experienced marketer, content strategist, Australian lawyer, humanitarian, and presenter. I absolutely love writing, and I am passionate about helping businesses grow by way of quality copy.

I started my writing journey studying journalism. As a rebellious and unconventional high school leaver, I had my sights set on becoming a print and TV journalist. I completed my secondary education through a pathway program and enrolled in my journo course but came to the realisation that more study was not for me. So, I did the next best thing, and I embarked on a career as professional marketer.

On my first stop, I become a direct marketing specialist and sold insurance over the phone. I was lucky enough to my start my career working for organisations such as American Express, ACE Insurance, Salmat and Citibank. I loved to sell (and still do!), and I loved speaking to people. Over the space of a few years, I really mastered the art of ‘selling honey to bees’ and developed fine techniques of persuasion and objection hanlding – invaluable skills that I take with me everywhere.

Shortly after, I found a great opportunity in the liquor industry. Oh boy, did I have fun working with wine! I soon transitioned into a marketing role where sold Australian wine to off-premise retailers around Australia from Cellarbrations, IGA Liquor and Bottler – the list goes on! After a few years, I sought to challenge myself by diversifying my skills in the technology space. I entered the data management sector and managed B2B campaigns and sold software solution services to industries such as government, medical, legal, automotive, and more.

I was looking to upsize my career, so I become a full-time student, and enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce (marketing major) and a Bachelor of Law. While studying, I dabbled in the commercial cleaning industry; working for myself running a small business. Looking to give back to the community, I discovered humility and justice as a law undergraduate and became a part-time legal volunteer at a local community legal centre called Salvos Legal. I assisted in providing legal support to socio-economically disadvantaged communities in Sydney.

On the search to shake things up as a marketer, I eventually landed a position as a marketing manager working for one of Australia leading video production agencies: Visionair Media. Here, I lead the strategic marketing function managing multiple categories. I developed strong offline campaigns though partnerships and coupled this with effective internet marketing programs. I grew key online content strategies which resulted in tremendous grow for business revenue. I  increased web traffic, and brand awareness though the power of word. During my time at Visionair, I worked on several accounts alongside a great team from small start-ups to larger organisations such as TEDxSydney, Marianvale Blue, Downer, Westpac, and Supagas. I’ve managed large projects operationally, and on a creative basis. I developed and wrote storyboards, brochures, scripts for TVCs, general marketing videos, newsletters, landing pages, website copy, blogs and more.

After my studies, I was admitted as lawyer by the Supreme Court of NSW and was registered as a practitioner of the High Court of Australia. I practised in several areas from commercial law, intellectual property, insolvency, and family law. I’ve worked for suburban local law firms, to ASX-listed organisations and within in-house legal corporate teams. I currently write for my own legal blog, which I thoroughly enjoy. While I don’t provide legal services online, my services are merely writing solutions, as I am still very passionate about justice and the law.

Today, I help my clients build impeccable content strategies to help increase traffic, brand awareness, and visibility through fixed-fee copy solutions. I have worked for a number of growing businesses like The Good Wine Club, where I manage end-to-end content solutions, from blogs, to website copy, newsletters, and everything in between. I consider myself to be an innate problem-solver, value creator and innovator. My experience is vast and wide, and I come to you with a breadth of knowledge. I pride myself of being multifaceted and I can’t wait to share my skills with you.
